Our mission

VolunTEEN was founded in late 2024 to make volunteering easier, more accessible, and more meaningful for teenagers. We connect students with local opportunities that fit their interests, schedules, and transportation needs, helping remove the confusion and barriers that often make it difficult to get involved. By making it easier for teens to find ways to serve and for nonprofits to reach motivated young volunteers, Volunteen works to strengthen communities and encourage a lifelong commitment to giving back.

Hello! I'm Koah, and I am from Bellevue, Washington. I am currently a rising senior at Eastside Preparatory School and the founder of Volunteen. Outside of Volunteen, I enjoy playing competitive soccer, filmmaking, singing, and learning more about urban planning and community development. My involvement in volunteering has included work with the Bellevue Youth Council, Sophia Way, KidVantage, and other local organizations. I created VolunTEEN after experiencing how difficult it can be for teenagers to find accessible and meaningful volunteer opportunities. Through VolunTEEN, I hope to make volunteering easier to navigate and help more students become involved in their communities. I enjoy collaborating with others, developing new ideas, and helping our team continue to grow.

Currently, I am a researcher in Tumor Immunology at the Schalper Lab. In my free time, I enjoy playing badminton, watching TV, and playing with my 2 dogs. My lifelong commitment to volunteering has included meaningful work with the Design Council, the R&D Impact Foundation, and Volunteen. I co-developed Volunteen to address a personal challenge I once faced; after learning about the initiative from Koah, I recognized its potential to help others. I am highly collaborative and communicative. If you would like to connect or discuss further, please feel free to contact me at jonahbendell1@gmail.com
